Mr. Manahara Mohotti donates a multimedia projector to Horizon Lanka

Mr. Manahara Mohotti, a young software engineer visited Horizon Lanka, Mahawilachchiya with his friend Mr. Malitta Nanayakkara who brought us 2 PCs and some other equipment on August 2, 2014. Having spent a day at Horizon Lanka with the children, Manahara inquired what else Horizon Lanka needs as a priority. Our answer was a multimedia projector. He promised to donate one for us.

After going to Colombo Manahra bought a multimedia projector for us with his personal money. He sent it to Mahawilachchiya through a friend of Horizon Lanka yesterday. It was a very valuable brand new projector. We watched a Sinhala children’s movie, “Siri Perakum” with the projector yesterday. Both children and adults in the village gathered to watch the movie.
We have decided to show a good movie every Sunday at 7.00 pm at Horizon Lanka. We will welcome children and the villagers to watch the movie free of charge. We will mainly use the projector for English, science and ICT lessons.
We thank Mr. Manahara Mohotti for donating us the projector. This was something we could not buy as Horizon Lanka does not have funds yet. Now we can learn very happily at Horizon Lanka.

We would appreciate if anyone can donate us a multimedia screen too.

Malitta Nanayakkara is a young software engineer from Rajagiriya, Colombo. Having been inspired by a tweet about resumption of Horizon Lanka academic activities last July 23 by veteran science writer Nalaka Gunawardene, Malitta contacted Nanda Wanninayaka, the Founder of Horizon Lanka and promised to donate two computers and other necessary equipment.

Malitta visited Mahawilachchiya today with his friend Manahara Mohotti, another young software engineer from Colombo. Malitta donated two PCs, a digital camera, a sub-woofer, a pen drive, networking equipment and some software to Horizon Lanka Foundation. This is the first ever donation after the resumption of the institute. Horizon Lanka will start teaching ICT as soon as necessary software are installed with the donated equipment. We thank Malitta for visiting and donating most needed equipment to Horizon Lanka.

We request you to chip in helping Horizon Lanka to have a fully pledged ICT institute once again with your generous support. We still need more PCs, a laptop, computer chairs and a professional digital video camera.
