FREE INTERNET ACCESS TO THAKSHILA PUBLIC SCHOOL (Updated on October 27, 2006) |
|
| We are happy to tell our readers that we have been able to provide internet access free of charge for another public school in Mahavilachchiya. Today Majith carried out a successful test at Thakshila Public School. This school provides education to 600 students but they don’t have a single computer in the school. Having heard about the first public school, Saliyamala School that we connected to internet through mesh network, Mr Kumara Badhuge from Qatar promised to donate a P4 model PC, a printer and a scanner to Saliyamala School. We hope someone who reads this webpage will donate at least a used PC to Thakshila School as well. Enabling 600 students to study computers and use internet will make a big difference in this rural school. It was at Thakshila School Mr Wanninayaka, the founder of Horizon Lanka Foundation had the primary and secondary education. With a single used PC we provided to Kadurupitiya Public School last year, the school had a big leap forward to Information Age. Within a very short time, they have around 10 PCs and now they connected to the Net through ICT Agency’s helping hand. Now they have their own website too. Visit www.ashokamala.org Let’s hope that we can do the same thing with Saliyamala Public School. |
