Horizon Lanka Foundation provided free internet access to Saliyamala School in Mahavilachchiya under mesh internet project. Unfortunately the school's only PC (donated by Horizon Lanka) is not working now. It would be great if any of you could donate at least few used PCs to this school. Please contact us at info@horizonlanka.org if you are interested in donating a PC to this school. The school provides education to 400 students. It was in this school the Horizon was started 8 years ago. We will be more than happy to assist this school. We believe that this school needs at least 10 PCs. Since there is internet connection, we can network the 10 PCs and provide internet access to all the PCs. We hope Horizon Lanka’s support base will help develop this school’s computer facilities. At Horizon Lanka Academy we provide education only to 100 students. This means thousands of students in other schools in the village do not get an IT education. Horizon Lanka believes that it can reduce the Digital Divide within the village through its "Computers for Public Schools" project. If Mahavilachchiya can produce around 1000 IT skilled youths, computer companies in Colombo and abroad will invest on computer related projects in Mahavilachchiya. There is already planning to start a Business Process Outsourcing project in here.

With a single used PC we provided to Kadurupitiya Public School last year, the school had a big leap forward to Information Age. Within a very short time, they have around 10 PCs and now they connected to the Net through ICT Agency’s helping hand. Now they have their own website too.
