BEGINNING OF THE NEW HORIZON LANKA BUILDING

Mr. and Mrs. Chas Charles visited Horizon Lanka Foundation last year. They were highly impressed with Horizon Lanka’s contribution to the community, and decided to help Horizon Lanka to take a great leap towards achieving its overall goals by offering to build a new spacious building. They realised that we needed a new plot of land, too, as the current one was not sufficient to meet the requirements of the growing number of students. Mrs. Charles first bought a two acre block of land for Horizon Lanka. This was in June 2005, and again, in July she contributed some more funds to Horizon Lanka to dig a well and buy a water pump. The magnanimity of Mr. and Mrs. Charles did not stop there - they are going to construct a new building for Horizon Lanka.

The building is to be completed by early 2006. There will be a grand opening of the building early next year, and we are extremely privileged that Mrs. Lovina Charles has agreed to grace the occasion as the Chief Guest. Once the building is complete, it will comprise a spacious computer lab as well as an audio-visual lab along with an administration office.

Mahavilachchiya village in its entirety is indebted to Mr. and Mrs. Charles and all members of their family
for their generosity and willingness to help us. Notwithstanding the geographical gulf that exists between
our village and their country of residence and the inconvenience of traveling to a remote corner of
Northwestern Sri Lanka, the Charles family has contributed enormously towards the Horizon Lanka
Foundation by visiting us and making extremely generous financial donations.
