A PC DONATION TO POLICE POST IN MAHAVILACHCHIYA (Updated: October 28, 2006) |
|
A used PC was donated to Track 4 police post, Mahavilachchiya through Horizon Lanka Foundation today. The PC was first donated to the Horizon Lanka Foundation by Mr. Revantha Udugampola of Colombo. There are more than 60 personnel, both police and home guard officers doing their duties at the police post. Most of them are young people and they requested HLF to provide them a PC. A young officer in Tract 4 Police Post of Mahavilachchiya, Sergeant Ranaweera was very enthusiastic about educating the police and home guards personnel in his post. He contacted Horizon Lanka Foundation and requested that they be given a used PC if possible. We got 4 used PCs from Mr Revantha Udugampola recently. We donated one of the PCs to this police post today. (Other PCs were distributed among the Horizon Lanka students.) IP Wickramarathna, the OIC of the Mahavilachchiya Police Station was present at the event. The young policemen and the home guards were very happy about the arrival of the PC and they hope to learn computers now. Horizon Lanka Foundation is trying to reduce the Digital Divide in the area by promoting ICT education among the people from all walks of life. We invite you to donate your used PC to Horizon Lanka Foundation so that we can put it to better use. |
