After the heavy rains which reined Mahavilachchiya for the past 3 months now there is bright sunshine. Sporting season also has started. The village playground, Deepthi Grounds was cleared on January 25, 2008 and waiting for sporting activities to start now. We thank the Manager, Livestock Board, Oyamaduwa for helping us in this endeavor. Mr Saman Wijitha Kumara, the journalist for Divaina helped us by coordinating this.

The village youth can play softball and hardball cricket, soccer, rugby, badminton, volleyball, etc. now. The usual annual sports tournaments will also be organized by Horizon Lanka and Deepthi Sports Club soon. English language will be used for the sports commentaries through the public addressing system by the students and the staff of Horizon Lanka as a measure of improving English usage in the village. Live commentaries will also be uploaded to the Internet if someone can help us with the technology needed for this.

Indoor gymnasium too will be opened on February, 2008 in Pemaduwa, Mahavilachchiya.
